Biography
Tenor Hunter Eisenmenger completed his Master of Music Performance degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music & Dance in May 2022, under the tutelage of Weston Hurt.
Even though he grew up loving and singing a wide variety of musical genres, it was not until Hunter went to college that he discovered his love of opera, after viewing a performance of La Bohème. From that night on, he was all ears for the glorious art form!
Born and raised among the cornfields of Nebraska alongside four brothers, Hunter intends to bring his Midwestern unassuming, community-driven charm and attitude with him for his future endeavor in the opera world.
During his time in undergraduate school, Hunter had the opportunity to play partial roles on the stage such as Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and Ferrando in Cosí fan tutte. After receiving his Bachelor of Music Education degree, Hunter taught high school music just outside of Kansas City. It was through teaching that he gained a passion for younger generations to know the beauty of classical art forms, especially opera, sooner than his own discovery. Finally, after a few years, Hunter felt called back to continue developing his own operatic repertoire and artistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory in 2020.
In November 2021, he debuted as Acis in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, in the UMKC Conservatory’s first opera production since the 2020 pandemic. In March of 2022, he covered Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. In Summer 2022, he joined Opera in the Ozarks as an Emerging Artist, performing again as Ferrando, as well as Henrik in Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. With a dexterous voice suited for musical theater as much as it is for opera, Hunter was also a featured solo performer in the company’s popular cabaret shows. During the summer of 2023, Hunter performed with Seagle Festival in the title role of Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, as well as the contemporary opera With Blood, With Ink (Daniel Crozier) as the evil Padre Antonio.
His work in the contemporary opera space continued after joining the Lyric Opera of Kansas City for their newly commissioned chamber opera, The Haberdasher Prince, singing the role of Prince Panderbash in the fall of 2024. In 2025, Hunter joins the Camerata Bardi International Academy in another Mozart role, Don Basilio/Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro.
